JACOB KAPLAN-MOSS
Jacob Kaplan-Moss is one of the lead developers and co-creator of Django. As an experienced software developer with a focus on web application and content management architecture. In 2005 Jacob joined the Lawrence Journal-World, a locally-owned newspaper in Lawrence, Kansas, and helped develop and eventually open source Django.
Jacob joined Revolution Systems in 2009.
Some highlights of Jacob's career:
- Co-author of The Definitive Guide to Django (Apress, 2007).
- Founder and current President of the Django Software Foundation.
- Frequent speaker at Open Source events and conferences including OSCON (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), PyCon (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), Linux.conf.au (2009), and quite a few others.
- Developer on websites for the Lawrence Journal-World that have won multiple awards including an AP Managing Editors award for online convergence, 9 Newspaper Association of America Digital Edge awards, 3 Editor & Publisher awards, and numerous Kansas Press Association awards.
- Led development on Ellington, a ground-breaking content-management system for media sites. Sites developed using Ellington consistently are among the best news sites: in 2007, 7 out of the 9 Digital Edge award categories were won by Ellington-powered sites, and in 2008 Ellington-powered sites won in 4 out of that year's 6 categories.
- A decade of experience as a web, open source, and Python developer.
