Open "Office Hours"
We've been wanting to try this for awhile, but have been too busy to actually try it out until now. Jacob Kaplan-Moss and I will be holding open "office hours" this Friday November 5th between 1-3 PM CDT in IRC. Come join us in #revsys on freenode and pick our brains. Or just come to listen and learn.
The concept is pretty simple, Jacob and I (and likely many other knowledgeable Djangonauts) will be in the channel and attempt to answer your questions related to:
- Django/Python
- Deployment
- Scaling/Performance
- PostgreSQL
- Anything else we happen to know...
We're going to log the discussion and will provide a transcript online afterwards.
Update: The transcript is now available.

hahaha, it wouldn't be a blog post written by me if it didn't have at least one glaring typo! Fixed it, thanks!

Jacob: This sounds like a great idea, but here's what will happen with me. I'll think about joining the channel early in the week, then totally forget about it until 3:05 Friday afternoon. If you continue this idea of "Office Hours", you might consider an email sign-up reminder service.

Jeff: We worried about that as well. If this catches on and we end up doing it on a regular basis we'll definitely setup an email list. For now you can follow @revsys on Twitter and we'll send out a couple of reminders.

Hmm, I always spelled it "Djangonaut", like Astronaut. Is a Djangonaught a Django developer misbehaving? I guess that's better than a Djangonought, someone who can't accomplish anything in Django...
